What was considered to be the carefully guarded private property of the holy martyr St. Kilian in the years after the founding of the Diocese of Würzburg in 742 is now accessible to everyone: As part of a project funded by the German Research Foundation and the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art all cathedral library manuscripts still available today at the Würzburg University Library have been digitized and indexed in greater depth.
