Materials on the History of the University of Würzburg
The University of Würzburg was founded in 1582 by Prince-Bishop Julius Echter, following an earlier precursor institution that existed briefly at the beginning of the fifteenth century. Since its re-establishment, the processes of university self-governance and the organization of teaching have given rise to a range of written records that have been systematically created and maintained.
In addition to the digitized course catalogues for the years 1785-1945, the University Library of Würzburg holds further materials documenting the university’s history. A selection of these items has been brought together in this compilation and is made available here for digital access and reuse.Course catalogues 1785-1945 ↗
